When should I get a facial or dermaplaning before a wedding or special event?
If you have a wedding, photoshoot or important event coming up, plan ahead. We recommend starting approximately 3-4 months before your event, especially if you’re new to professional facials or trying a treatment for the first time. This gives us time to see how your skin responds, make adjustments if needed and establish a treatment and home care plan. We generally don’t recommend experimenting with a brand new facial or skincare treatment immediately before an important event.
What is dermaplaning and what does it do for your skin?
Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation treatment that gently removes dead skin buildup and fine vellus hair, often called peach fuzz, from the surface of the face. It can help skin feel smoother and create a more even surface for skincare and makeup. At Modern You in Burlington, dermaplaning can be booked on its own or incorporated into a facial when appropriate for your skin.
Does facial hair grow back thicker or darker after dermaplaning?
No. Dermaplaning does not change the thickness, color or growth pattern of facial hair. Fine vellus hair will gradually grow back as it did before treatment.
How often should you get dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is commonly performed every 4–6 weeks, although the right frequency depends on your skin, current treatments and goals. Your provider can recommend whether dermaplaning should be part of your regular facial routine or used occasionally as an added exfoliation treatment.
